Barcelona lineup French winger as backup if deals for primary targets fail

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are keeping tabs on the Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman for a summer transfer although he is not currently their top priority. The report claims that, Neymar from PSG and Lautaro Martinez from Inter remain Barcelona’s top priority. But the current financial uncertainty coupled with Barcelona’s already dire financial status might make it impossible for the Catalan giants to pursue their main transfer targets.

Transfer Rumour Reliability

best football transfer sources

Sport is the source of this transfer rumour and the Spanish outlet are a Tier 3 source in our Football Transfer Sources Reliability Guide. A Tier 3 source is not very reliable but generally do not report a rumour without any substance.

Barcelona have a big challenge on their hands to balance their budget and improve their squad this summer. Lionel Messi is not getting any younger and their expensive signings in Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele have failed to make an impact. Stalwarts like Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets have served the club well for the past decade but their age is clearly showing. So Barcelona need replacements in midfield and in defence for sure and with Griezmann failing in his first season, Barca still haven’t replaced Luis Suarez who surely can’t be relied upon next season.
