Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-0 which sees them in pole position to qualify for the Champions League next season. It was a strange game with multiple chances at both ends but United’s attackers were poor in the final third. Romelu Lukaku was thwarted multiple times by Leno where as it was David De Gea’s poor judgment and a controversial penalty which handed Arsenal the goals.

Arsenal

Bernd Leno : 9/10

Made crucial saves to deny Lukaku and was impressive with his distribution.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles : 7/10

Started nervously but improved as the game went along. Was tremendously confident at the end, future looks bright.

Laurent Koscielny : 8/10

Marshaled the defence brilliantly, clear leader of this much improved Arsenal defence.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos : 6.5/10

Booked early and was a little indecisive at times against United’s attackers.

Nacho Monreal : 7/10

Was quiet for majority of the game but made no mistakes and was an important part of Arsenal’s build up play from the back.

Aaron Ramsey & Granit Xhaka : 7/10

Arsenal are going to miss the Welshman when he leaves to Juventus in the summer. He and Xhaka ensured that they won the midfield battle against United. Xhaka scored the first goal which ideally should have been saved but the Swede is a much improved player now compared to his earlier days with Arsenal

Mesut Ozil : 6/10

United’s 2 man midfield allowed Ozil to find himself in pockets of space in the first half but he was unable to impact the game as much as he would want to. Still looks like a luxury player who will not be preferred when Arsenal are playing away or against tough opponents.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang : 6/10

Although he scored the second goal from a penalty, Aubameyang was pretty poor for the rest of the match. Has been off form for quite sometime now.

Alexander Lacazette : 8/10

Was Arsenal’s best attacker throughout the game. Also won a contentious penalty which Aubameyang later converted.
