Barcelona to go after this French star if Griezmann signing fails

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona will go after Thomas Lemar if they fail to sign Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer. Lemar will reportedly cost 90m Euros to sign this summer. Barcelona have been linked to Antoinne Griezmann for the past two transfer windows but there seems to be no end to saga as reports have alternated from the Frenchman committing to his future at Atletico to Barcelona finally managing to sign him. With interest from clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona know that the Griezmann deal is anything but certain so they are looking at Lemar as a backup.

Thomas Lemar almost made the switch to Arsenal from Monaco during the 2018 January window but the deal collapsed in the final stages. There is interest from Liverpool too in the Frenchman but an underwhelming season for Monaco has seen interest from Premier League sides cool a bit. Barcelona are interested in signing an attacker who has the ability to play across the front 3. This indicates that they are looking for someone who can reduce the goalscoring burden on Luis Suarez. With someone like Griezmann in the team, Barcelona can push Messi back into the number 9 role where he would be more effective in the final third.
