Real Madrid favourites ahead of Barcelona to land Liverpool star in January

According to The Daily Star, Real Madrid are favourites to sign Premier League top scorer Mohammed Salah from Liverpool in January. The report cites the Egypt national team manager, Hector Cuper’s claim that Real Madrid are lining up a move for the Egyptian and also the fact that the bookies have placed Real as the favourites to sign the winger . Barcelona also are apparently in the race to sign the Egyptian who on his return to the Premier League has been a revelation with his goal-scoring form. Although it is hard to see Liverpool let their star man leave in the middle of the season, the lure of big clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona is not be underestimated.

Liverpool in the summer transfer window stood their ground and refused to sell Coutinho to Barcelona for an acceptable price even though the Brazilian had submitted a tranfser request. With Salah’s growing importance to Jurgen Klopp and the fact that he can’t play Champions League for any other club this season makes a deal unlikely. But Real Madrid’s poor form, their inability to score and Gareth Bale’s continuing injury problems make them desperate to sign a player in January who can kick-start their till now sputtering season.
