Barcelona are looking to sign Tottenham star Christian Eriksen instead of Liverpool’s Coutinho according to a report by the Daily Star. Although, there have been strong rumours about Mesut Ozil signing for Barcelona, Don Balon claim that Barcelona are looking at the versatile Eriksen who has been in tremendous form for club and country this season. In case of Ozil whose contract will expire in the summer, Barcelona can get him cheaply in January or for free in the summer. But for Eriksen, Barca know that it will take a massive fee for Daniel Levy to sell him. But at 25, Eriksen has many more years at the top ahead of him than Ozil.
With Andres Iniesta aging, Barcelona urgently need to sign midfield reinforcements. They failed to sign Coutinho in the summer even after the Brazilian had submitted a transfer request. They might still go back for him in the summer but the fee Liverpool is demanding might put them off.
