Even though there has been wide spread speculation about Mourinho joining Manchester United, Daily Mirror has reported that the Manchester United board are in favour of giving Ryan Giggs the job instead. The Mirror also said that Giggs was promised the job after Van Gaal during the time David Moyes was sacked. Although Ryan Giggs enjoye tremendous support of the fans it is pretty clear that most of the fans will prefer the charismatic Jose Mourinho to take charge after Van Gaal rather than Ryan Giggs.
Ryan Giggs has been the assistant to two disastrous terms under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal. Ed Woodward has to get this managerial appointment right after two disastrous decisions. Manchester United are now far behind the best in Europe and need to correct a lot of mistakes which have been made since Ferguson left. Commercially Ed Woodward has done very well, but this is not sustainable for a long time as the results on the pitch have weakened. Manchester United will only remain to be a commercial giant if they get back to being a top club in Europe. Or else they are heading for a long period of decline.
