Manchester United’s Nick Powell is set to undergo his medical at Hull City on a loan deal which may or may not have a buy out clause included. According to Manchester Evening News, Hull City boss former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce wants to sign the young midfielder. Powell has been linked to various Championship sides after returning from an long term injury. Initially full of promise and talent, Powell has been affected by injuries and his progress has stalled quite a bit. At 21, he is no longer a young kid and very well knows that his time at United is over and he has to work really hard to even play for a Premier League side.
Van Gaal is known to give to youngsters a runout has given Powell some opportunities. But in a season blighted with poor form and team issues,it is literally next to impossible for a youngster to shine in the first team. Adnan Januzaj managed to do that in Moyes’ first season but now even his career has stalled. Manchester United need to take a deep look at how they are managing their youngsters as the whole system for the kids seems to have collapsed after Ferguson left. Currently there is no exciting youngster from the youth academy who looks like he can break into the first team.
