Manchester United suffered yet another injury blow as youngster Jesse Lingard was ruled out of this weekend’s game against table toppers Leicester City. Already suffering from injuries, Marcus Rojo and Lingard were added to the list after the midweek Champions League fixture.
Marcus Rojo also is ruled out of the game and naming four fit defenders for the game will be a big headache for Van Gaal. Paddy Mcnair might be called into action or Matteo Darmian could be asked to fill in at center back with Ashley Young playing as the right back.
Upfront, although United’s injury problems are not so serious but the attack has been struggling to create and score goals. Bastian Schweinsteiger has been unimpressive in recent weeks and there has been no invention or creativity from the center of the pitch. Juan Mata might start again but the Spaniard also looks blunt and clueless in a formation which is not designed to let creative players thrive. There has been a lot of backlash against Van Gaal because of United’s style of play but he has enjoyed a lot of support from the United fans who were so quick to turn against David Moyes.
