Liverpool face Spurs in a pivotal clash in the Barclays Premier Leagues. This fixture could determine which of the two teams will be in contention for a Champions League spot. Spurs after the high of a North London Derby victory will be looking to beat a improving Liverpool team.
Tactically it will be an interesting battle with Liverpool’s favoured back 3 formation expected to come under pressure from the Spurs attack. Spurs in recent time especially against Chelsea have created overloads on their left flank. Eriksen who starts out wide moves inside opening up space for Rose to run with both Bentaleb and Harry Kane taking turns to support the attack from the left. Even against Arsenal,the winner came from a cross from the left where Bentaleb was left free. Steven Gerrard will be expected to cover a lot of ground for Liverpool as the midfielder has to track runners from Spurs midfield as well as lateral movement of Christian Eriksen.
On the other hand Daniel Sturridge’s return ensure that there will intelligent movement upfront for Liverpool along with the exciting Jordan Ibe’s pace. Liverpool will be a threat on the break more so that Arsenal were against Spurs so on the overall it should be a very interesting game tactically.
