According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Barcelona are ready to invest a massive €180million on three young stars to revamp their squad as their famed academy La Masia has failed to provide any first team players for the past few years. These stars are Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong of Ajax, and the Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek. de Ligt among the three has been heavily linked and has attracted the attention of many top clubs around Europe.

Barcelona’s transfer strategy over the past few years has not been succesful with many feeling that the club massively overpaid for players like Coutinho and Dembele and have also signed many duds like Andre Gomes, Nelson Semedo, Vidal, etc. The club as a whole has been underachieving especially in the Champions League but have managed to remain successful domestically only because of the genius of Lionel Messi. They urgently need to reinforce their midfield which has been weakened with the departure of Andres Iniesta and also find a striker to replace the aging Luis Suarez.
