Barcelona have entered the race to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho according to Spanish outlet Don Balon as a replacement for Andres Iniesta who is leaving at the end of this season. Jorginho has already been linked to Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United according to the Daily Mirror and the Metro respectively. It would be a prolonged transfer battle across the summer for Jorginho as more and more top clubs across Europe start taking interest.

Many claimed that Philippe Coutinho was signed as a natural successor for Andres Iniesta but as this season’s games have shown, Barcelona’s midfield has weakened considerably from the Pep Guardiola days. Their midfield has not been able to exert the same amount of control nor hold possession effectively and it has Lionel Messi who has been rescuing them time and again. Although Barcelona can win the La Liga undefeated for the whole season, Valverde knows that he needs to work on fixing some holes in the team. With Messi coming to the end of his career, Barcelona need to reduce their dependence on their talisman. Antoine Greizmann is another player who is expected to join Barcelona from Atletico Madrid. If Barcelona do sign the Frenchman, he will be key to their fortunes in the post-Messi era.
