Real Madrid talisman and Balon d’Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo has hit a patch of bad form which has prompted the rumour mill regarding his future to go in overdrive. The Express report that Real Madrid will seek to sell the Portguese superstar if he doesn’t recover his form and replace him with Neymar. Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish outlet based in Barcelona has been quoted as the source in the report. Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez knows that sooner or later, he needs to make a statement signing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. With Messi showing no signs of slowing down, Neymar is the only other player who stands a chance to compete with Messi as the world’s best player if Ronaldo’s decline is permanent.

Whether PSG will sanction the move or not is a different matter altogether. But for Neymar, the move will make sense as he needs to be at a historically significant club. He needs to be playing in a more competitive league every week for him to improve as a player. Ligue 1 is not challenging enough at the moment and when the big games come up in the Champions League, PSG might struggle to bring their best form. Of course, if Neymar does move to Real Madrid, he would be even more hated in Barcelona than he is now. This move seems unlikely at the moment but it is also unlikely to see Neymar at PSG for long unless they keep winning the Champions League.
